About NSBE Queen's

Empowering Black students in STEM at Queen's University.

Our Story

A chapter built on Black excellence.

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the world, founded in 1975 and now home to over 16,000 members across 500+ chapters worldwide. NSBE's mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

At Queen's University, NSBE provides a vibrant community where Black students in STEM can thrive through academic support, professional development, mentorship, leadership opportunities, and community service.

Guided by our core values of Excellence, Exposure, Community, Empathy, and Leadership, we strive to create spaces where every member feels empowered to achieve their goals.

Professional Development

Equip members with the tools to succeed in the workplace through alumni talks, networking, and career resources.

Mentorship & Connections

Foster a strong community by connecting students across years through workshops, socials, and mentorship.

Academic Support

Help members thrive academically with study pods, exam prep, and peer tutoring.

Who We Are

Building culturally responsible Black engineers.

We are Black engineering and computing students at Queen's, along with the allies, alumni, and industry partners who support us. What holds the chapter together is a shared belief that community is what makes a demanding degree survivable, and enjoyable.

Across the year we run study pods, career panels, socials, conference trips, and a peer mentorship program, all of it student-led and open to every member.
